Top 5 Cheap Acne Solutions

If you are one of the lucky girls out there to suffer from cystic acne like myself, you know how hard it can be to find a product that works for you. I've tried hundreds of products for my acne, and the costs can really add up. Here are some acne solutions that work just as good better than the ones I've tried from the drugstore.

5. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a gift straight from nature. I use it around my house as a natural insect repellent and as an ingredient in my cleaning solution. You can use tea tree oil for just about anything, but my favorite use by far is for skin care. Tea tree oil can help prevent and treat breakouts by clearing out the nasty acne-causing bacteria from your skin. While you can apply tea tree oil directly to skin, I advise you do so with caution because it can be irritating to your skin. Dilute with water, or a carrier oil such as grapeseed or olive oil and apply to skin with a cotton pad.

4. Honey Mask

Honey is another wonderful acne-fighting ingredient from nature. It's a natural antibiotic that help heal breakouts. The best way I have found to use honey to treat acne is by using it as an in-shower mask. After washing your face in the shower, spread on a generous amount of honey, steering clear of the eye area. Leave on for 5-10 minutes and be sure to rinse thoroughly.

3. Lemon Juice

If you have stubborn acne scars, lemon juice might just be your new best friend. When diluted with water, and used as a toner, lemon juice can be effective at erasing dark marks on the skin. However, a word of caution, when using lemon juice on your skin be sure to avoid sunlight, as it can increase your sensitivity to sun and cause you to burn.

2. Aloe Vera Gel

Now this one is something I discovered by accident when running late for work one morning. I couldn't find my moisturizer and I needed something to put on my skin. I had some Equate Aloe Vera After Sun Gel in my bathroom drawer. Even after being hours into my shift, I couldn't believe how amazing my skin felt. After using it for a few days I also noticed an overall improvement in the quality of my skin. I saw a reduction in redness, active breakouts, and red marks leftover from acne. It's worth noting that pure aloe vera gel would probably yield even better results, but so far I'm happy with my $3.98 Walmart find.

1. Baking Soda and Lemon Juice Mask

This is by far my holy grail acne product, and it costs just pennies to make. Out of every product I have EVER put on my skin (including prescription creams), I have never seen better results than with this mask. Just combine equal parts of lemon juice and baking soda, apply to face and let dry before rinsing. I see a noticeable difference each time. This mask is great at reducing redness, acne scars, and even preventing breakouts.

Beautiful skin doesn't have to be expensive, and many of the most effective treatments may already be sitting in your pantry!
